The Ultimate Show!

Aha! My fame and influence has grown to great lengths! I am to preform a show in the Roman forum! I will be preforming for the emperor himself! I have the perfect plan. I will levitate above the forum for all to see, including the emperor himself. When the emperor sees me I will surely be named a god! The emperor's word is law, I will be a god worshipped by all of the known world!

***According to The Acts of Peter, a book of questionable authenticity, Simon the Sorceror preformed a magic show at the Roman Forum. According to the book Simon levitated above the forum to show that he truly was a god, but Peter prayed to God and Simon fell from the sky and broke his leg in three places. The crowd becomes hostile becomes Simon cannot complete his act, so they stone him. He does not die but is gravely wounded and left for dead. That night some of his followers may have carried him to Arricia to receive medical aid. The book says that Simon died while being cut into by physicians. This account is almost certainly false, since the entire book is almost universally believed to be false. Apart from this story, Simon Magus (Simon the Sorcerer) just disappears and does nothing else of importance.

I Think I'm going to Like this...

After those stuck up Christians ridiculed me and refused to let me buy the secrets of their magic (they even named a "sin" after me, "simony" they call it, the sin of trying to buy a position in the church!), I continued wandering around showing off my talents in the magical arts. I've become quite popular; famous, one could say. In fact, there are some people who believe I am a god in human form! Who am I do deny these people's idea? I AM after all the only one who can use magic in the way that I can, I think I'm going to like being a god. It's not half bad! I don't have to do anything myself, and my shows sell out in a snap. You could even say that one of my magic tricks is being able to instantly sell out an entire show! Ha!

These people are a Gnostic sect, and they call themselves the Simonianists. Simonianism... I think I could get used to a REAL religion like that! I may not be able to raise myself from the dead like that Christ guy, but hey, I don't see Christ walking around anymore! Perhaps the whole Christ think was just a myth.... Ah well. Those bitter Christians. They really bug me. They just can't stand the idea of someone else being a better magician. They claim I'm not a GOD in human form, but a DEMON! Ha! Some people really are full of it.

The NERVE of some people!

The other day I was showing off my magical abilities for some people and they were admiring me and saying that I had divine power that they called "The Great Power". They began to follow me around because they were AMAZED by me. But then, this man who also had great power came and started talking about this guy named Jesus. Apparently this Jesus guy rose from the dead, the ultimate show of magical ability! A lot of people that were following me believed this guy that was talking about Jesus, and they followed him instead and were baptized. I wanted to learn how to master death, so I followed along as well and was also baptized.

This guy's name was Phillip, and he was able to heal people and use many other magical abilities. A few days later, two other guys, I think their names were Pete and Johnny or something, anyways these two other guys come and they put their hands over us and tell us that this "Holy Spirit" is coming onto us. This "Holy Spirit" allowed people to do a variety of different things, including speaking in another language! If only I had the ability to give others power as well, I'd be even MORE famous! So I go up to these Pete guy, and I ask to buy the secrets to his ability off of him. I mean, I'm a pretty wealthy guy, these shows pay well, and I'd be the best magician in the land if I could give other people powers as well! I'd be rich and famous in no time! 

Well this Pete guy gets ticked off at me for some reason, and told me to die with my money... What's up with this guy? He then goes on to tell me that I had no part at all in this "ministry" or whatever, and that my heart is not right before God because it is full of wickedness... He told me to pray to the Lord to forgive my wicked ways because I was "full of bitterness" and "full of sin". Not wanting to make a scene, I went along with it and told him to go ahead and pray over me so that I'd be all right with the big man upstairs. I mean, just in case this God was real, I didn't want him to be mad at me you know? Then all these guys just leave, just like that! I didn't get SQUAT from the whole ordeal! Looks like it's back to the old drawing board...

I may have seen some more real magicians!

Today I was in the city of Sabaste, and I saw a group of people standing over another group. They laid their hands over the group and afterwards everyone there started healing people! It was astounding, healing powers are powers that I have not yet mastered. Tomorrow I shall confront them and ask them their secrets...

My new magic act is really taking off!!!

I've recently been traveling around Samaria showing off my skills in magic. I've created quite a name for myself using my Levitation act. I am quite sure that I am the only man in the world who can levitate and fly around at will. I've surpassed the mere illusions so common among petty side show magicians, I've mastered true magic! However I have heard rumors of some kind of cultic group that also practices magic, maybe if I ever come across any I can buy their secrets off of them.
